Renator Mambor (born in Rome 1936 – 2014) was a painter, writer, photographer and actor. He was a known member of the ‘Scuola di Piazza del Popolo’ artistic movement born in the late 1950s and 1960s in Rome and is considered the founder of the Conceptual Neo-Figuration movement (Neofigurazione Concettuale). In the mid-sixties, Mambor began working for cinema and theatre, temporarily interrupting the pictorial experience. The theatre also involved him as a set designer; in the nineties, after a ten-year hiatus, the artist returns to painting which now becomes more complex, as he is able to summarize the aesthetic and research components of his previous theatrical experience. He continued to paint and exhibit until early December 2014.
In 1967 Renato Mambor took part in his first international exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Following this opportunity came more exhibitions and shows, among the most important exhibitions, we can mention: Palazzo Ricci (Montepulciano, 1970); Renato Mambor, Galleria del Naviglio (Milan, 1972); La ricerca estetica 1960-1970, Palazzo delle Esposizioni (Rome, 1973); Arte italiana degli anni Sessanta nelle collezioni della Galleria Civica di Arte Moderna, Rivoli Castle, (Rivoli,1985); Pianofortissimo, Fondazione Mudima, (Milan, 1987); Biennale di Venezia (Venezia, 1993-2007-2011-2015); Ritratto di una città.
